Recovery Community Organizations
Historical RCO work MHAI/IRN
Since 2018, Mental Health America of Indiana (MHAI) has played a pivotal role in advancing the Recovery Community Organization (RCO) model across Indiana, initially through a federal grant that provided education, technical assistance, and support for establishing and transitioning RCOs, as well as creating the Indiana Recovery Network to foster collaboration among RCOs and recovery focused organizations throughout the state, providing a direct connection for individuals and families to recovery services and addressing service gaps. Building on this foundation, MHAI continued its partnership with grassroots organizations through state partnerships, delivering Recovery Ecosystems and RCO 101 trainings in 2020-2021, which facilitated community assessments and feedback collection. Most recently, in collaboration with FSSA DMHA Recovery Works, MHAI co-launched and managed the RCO Certification pilot program from 2022 to 2024, offering targeted technical assistance to organizations pursuing certification, further strengthening the recovery ecosystem and resource accessibility statewide.
